Thai Iced Coffee

Thai Iced Coffee

While I wouldn’t recommend drinking it on a daily basis due to the sugar content, thai iced coffee is a delicious and easy once in a while treat. It’s sweet, refreshing on a hot day, and goes exceptionally well with chocolate chip banana muffins. I found the original recipe on the KitchenAid blog, The Kitchenthusiast.

Ingredients

  • Coffee (whole bean or ground)
  • Water (filtered)
  • Coffee ice cubes
  • Condensed milk

Instructions

  1. Make coffee
I’m not actually certain that I do this the right way, so I feel like a bit of a heel explaining it.
My SO is exceptionally particular about it though so here’s my best shot. Either grind the coffee beans or use pre-ground beans and put it in a french press. Heat the filtered water to 190°ree;F, pour it over the coffee, stir well, and let it steep for ~5 minutes. Then depress the press and pour it into a glass jar and refrigerate overnight.Alternately, you could also do cold brew coffee overnight. In that case, you’d refrain from heating the water, pour it over the coffee, and press it in the morning. The recipe I found recommends pouring hot coffee directly over ice, but I’ve never had great luck with that.
  2. Fill a glass with coffee ice cubes
Rather than dumping your leftover coffee, get in the habit of making ice cubes out of it. That way when they melt, you get some bonus coffee.
  3. Add the condensed milk
I never actually measure this out, or the amount of coffee I use for that matter, so I say just start with a spoonful and add more if necessary.
  4. Pour & enjoy
This step is pretty self-explanatory. Pour the coffee over the ice cubes and milk, give it a stir so the milk has a chance to dissolve into the coffee, and drink up!
